ASSESSMENT AND REPORTING Policy Statement

BASIC BELIEF

  • Assessment and reporting are key accountability processes.
  • Effective assessment provides the information required to improve student outcomes.
  • Effective reporting practices foster integrity and trust between parents, teachers and students.

GUIDELINES

  • Assessment and reporting processes are to comply with DoE requirements and those approved by School Council.
  • An assessment and reporting program overseen by the Curriculum Team is structured to ensure consistency of approach on a whole school basis.
  • Unit teams are to review and publish their respective assessment and reporting programs at the beginning of Term One to ensure:
    • Consistency with school and DoE requirements
    • A range of formal and informal assessment practices
    • The matching of assessment with student and unit needs
  • Parent information sessions are conducted by unit staff at the beginning of each year to advise of unit plans, requirements and expectations.
  • Parents are kept informed of curriculum developments through program information sessions, newsletter reports, formal/informal interviews and special activity days.
  • Written reports are provided twice per year for parents of all students.
  • A minimum of one formal parent/teacher interview is conducted each year.
  • Assessment and record keeping form an integral part of teacher review.
  • Assessment, record keeping and reporting are supported by professional development.
