HOME/SCHOOL COMMUNICATION Policy
Statement

BASIC BELIEF

This school community believes:

  • There should be ongoing two way communication between parents and teachers.
  • Both formal and informal forms of communication should be evident.
  • Good communication is essential and benefits our children.
  • Good communication provides a positive atmosphere.
  • Parents, School Council, Principal and staff are together responsible for good communication.

GUIDELINES

To facilitate communication the following will be initiated:

  • Wednesday Newsletter will be sent home as a weekly news sheet.
  • A Parents’ Handbook will be made available annually to prep parents.
  • Information nights on school curriculum issues will be held.
  • Class newsletters will be published.
  • Coffee mornings will provide a forum for teacher/parent discussion.
  • Parents will be involved in policy development and have access to written documents.
  • Class Open Days will facilitate parent awareness of curriculum.
  • Curriculum days may be used to disseminate curriculum information to parents.
  • Parents will have access to School Council and sub-committee reports and published agenda.
  • Specific liaison people or groups will have access to clerical assistance and office equipment when necessary, ie. monitors and Parents’ Club.

BASIS FOR DISCRETION

This policy may be varied by the Principal should the need arise.
