COUNCIL\\\'S PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION OPEN
COUNCIL'S PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION OPEN Alpine Shire Council will again run its popular annual Snapshot Photography Competition, giving the community a chance to showcase their photographic talents. Alpine Mayor, Cr Nino Mautone said the competition attracted more than 250 photos last year and visually engaged members of the community who may not be involved with Council in other ways. "The Alpine Snapshot Competition aims to get the community to show us what they love about life in the Shire and to take photos of the people and scenery that inspires them," Cr Mautone said. "This year we are again offering a first prize of a $1000 Dahlsens' voucher to the photographer whose photo is selected to appear on the cover of the 2012 Alpine Shire Calendar. In addition each photographer whose photo is chosen for a month of the calendar will receive a $50 voucher to be redeemed at any business located in the Alpine Shire," he said. The competition is open to receive entries from 9 May to 25 July. "This is a wonderful opportunity for the community to show us what they love about the Shire and it will also support Council's Buy Local program." The competition is open to people of all ages as long as they are residents or ratepayers of the Shire and their photos feature Shire landmarks or activities.
