"THE ENIGMA STRING QUARTET" WILL PLAY AT FALLS CREEK
"The Enigma String Quartet" will play an evening of Beethoven, Bach and
Borodin on Wednesday night
Frueauf Village are proud to announce "The Enigma String Quartet" , a
vibrant, young Melbourne-based ensemble will perform a repertoire of
BEETHOVEN (String Quartet in Bb major, Opus 18 No. 6), BACH (Brandenberg
Concerto No. 3) and BORODIN (String Quartet No. 2 in D major), in the Glo
Auditorium at 8.30pm. The members of the visiting ensemble are all
graduates, and senior students, from the Victorian College of the Arts, and
are all highly regarded Australian musicians who have won important musical
awards.
Rochelle Bryson graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2001 and
is currently a student of Miwako Abe. Bryson won the string section of the
2001 Hepzibah Menuhin Awards, and has been a Mastercourse participant at the
Australian National Academy of Music for the past two years.
Emma Jardine is a final year music student at the Victorian College of the
Arts, also studying with Miwako Abe. Jardine completed her L.Mus.A at the
age of 16, and her A.Mus.A at 13. Currently leader of the Victorian College
of the
Arts Symphony Orchestra, Jardine was awarded the VCA's Jasmine Brunner
Scholarship for violin in 2001.
Elise Turner is completing her final year at the Victorian College of the
Arts. Turner studies with Trevor Jones, Principle Viola in the Melbourne
Symphony Orchestra. and is leader of the viola section in the Victorian
College of the Arts Symphony Orchestra. Turner has been a member of the
Australian Youth Orchestra, with whom she recently toured Europe.
And last but not least, the male member of the very talented quartet
visiting Falls Creek, Sam Goble is currently completing his Honours degree
at the Victorian College of the Arts, having graduated in 1999 with a B.Mus
majoring in performance. Goble is a student of Arthurs Esergailis (Melbourne
Symphony), has previously studied with Alfred Hornung and is currently
principle cellist in the Geminiani Orchestra, and has been a Melbourne
Symphony Orchestra Mentor Program participant.
The evening is in aid of "Open Family" who assist homeless and drug affected
youth all around Australia. There will be an opportunity to donate to Open
